Teaching social media strategy and global marketing at Middle Tennessee State University, Dr. Rajesh Srivastava---veteran of 25 years MBA, PhD professor------ affectionately called “The Nutty Professor", stepped into Tinseltown's spotlight, on September 30, and ending Oct-31-2025, to compete on NBC's " On Brand with Jimmy Fallon" , with 10 other contestants for opportunities comprised of trading ingenious cerebral dexterity laden blows, in conjunction with hopes of landing the knockout -copyright-like-mind "lick "that wins the definitive creative lockdown and capturing $100, 000 and an incredible array of gifts,
TV 1. How has your career helped you in creating creative content on Fallon's show?  I have a MBA and PhD in marketing and have been teaching marketing for the last 25 years but it was my TIKTOK account that got their attention.  So it was the combination of my marketing teaching and making content in TIKTOK that helped me in making creative content for Fallon's show.
2. When were you contacted about appearing on the show and were you a bit tentative about venturing into the entertainment realm? The casting director actually commented on my tiktok and emailed me also.  I did not take it seriously till he texted me.  Then I did my research and called him back. I was a little bit apprehensive but I decided to venture into it.  It was my experience in TikTok that gave me confidence to take part in it.  I am a very adventurous person and love to try new things.  So why not a TV show.  3. What experiences prior to teaching , in your opinion, have helped you in your journey  either as a teacher and now a contestant on a TV show? When you are standing in front of hundreds of students everyday and answering all kinds of questions, you develop confidence and become good at public speaking. So I never felt that I would not be able to do a TV show. Also, I felt that the show will give me tons of stories to tell my students for years to come.  That is what I have now.  4. Wouldn't you say that your age has given you an  advantage over your younger adversaries?  Is there tension, derision, good natured competitiveness or at times intense competitiveness amongst yourselves?  I don't think my age was an advantage or a disadvantage over my younger adversaries.  I was substantially older than most of the contestants. So they treated me like their Dad.  LOL.  There never was a tension between the contestants.  We were very friendly with each other and hung out with each other after the shoot.  Of course, there was a good natured competitiveness on the set and even intense competition some time but never after the shoot.
5. How have you gotten along with Jimmy Fallon, Doughboy and Saint? Both Jimmy and Saint were very friendly and very encouraging. There NEVER was a day when we felt that there was a big gap between who we are and who they are.  After all, they are so famous and so accomplished and we were on our first show, but they never made us feel that.  We could talk with them anytime we wanted.  They were very accessible.
6. Which  of your fellow cast members do you feel is the most ingenious?   I would put Bianca, Ryan and Mahiri in the top category and the rest of us in a category which was very close to their category.   It was amazing how ingenious they all were.    7. Do you feel that  there is any advantage or disadvantage regarding either gender wise, age, or racial in the creation formula?  Do  you all live together in a hotel? I don't think there was any advantage or disadvantage in the creation formula. They wanted us to represent everyday Americans and I think we represented the American population very well.   8 Are there any love connections brewing on set? Well, 6 of the ten contestants were married so there was very little probability of love connections.  I didn't see any. 9.  How would the exposure and credibility of being featured on this tv show change your life and business? I don't think it will change my life or my business at all.  Some people have recognized me, that is all.  10. How will this experience shape the way you lead and grow your business? This experience will add to my experience of teaching and especially grading the assignments.  I understand how these shows are made, how many people work in the background and how long it takes to make a show.  This will help me understand many activities.
11. What are your other areas of expertise, in addition to your chosen educator field? I have an engineering UG so I understand technical fields also.  I also advise high school students how to prepare for college, how to study for ACT/SAT and how to be involved in extracurricular activities.   12. Why were you, in your opinion, selected vs hundreds of other potential applicants? That is a question you should ask the show's casting director.  I think it was my personality and my position as TIKTOK influencer helped my case.3w4i Both Bozoma and Fallon were very friendly so there was NO intimidation at all.  I never felt that I was out of place or I was nervous.  Both of them were very helpful.  None of my contestants were intimidating at all.  Never felt that even for a moment.  In fact they were very helpful.
